MAP OF DESTINATION IN TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

Tanjung puting National Park is optimally managed based area potential and characteristic. Use water transportation to arrange your trip to Tanjung Puting National Park (Speedboat, Klotok) During journey you will be displayed with various low-land forest ecosystem types. There are 3 (three) main destinations to visit; Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui and -the famous- camp leakey.

KUMAI

Is the gateway to enter Tanjung Puting National Park area. Here’s where you apply entrance ticket and get a pre-look before entering the Park. Information center, Souvenir Shop, Harbour and Toilet is free to use.

TANJUNG HARAPAN

This site is 0,5 hrs from kumai (20 Km) on speedboat or 1,5 hrs on klotok. Information Center. Watch Tower and trekking lines is accesible. There is also Demonstration Plots for Orchids and Herbal Plants. Orangutan Feeding time at 15.00 daily.

DESA TANJUNG HARAPAN / SUNGAI SEKONYER

This village is buffer for the Park. Situated right across Tanjung Puting national Park boundary (sekonyer River). You can see traditional culture here. Homestays, canoe rent and souvenir shop is available.

PESALAT

Kumai – Pesalat (23 Km), 35 mine from kumai on speedboat or 1 hrs 45 mine on klotok. This area is an Education Centre and Camping Ground. Visitors can get involved in reforestation, there are free saplings for planting.

PONDOK TANGGUI

Kumai- Pondok Tanggui (30 Km) or 1 hour on speedboad and 3 hours on klotok. You can watch orangutan fedding at 09.00 in the morning daily or trekking on the trails provided from here to Pesalat / Tanjung Harapan.

PONDOK AMBUNG

It takes 70 mine on speedboat or 210 mine in klotok to go here. This site is a research station for flora and fauna of all habitat types in Tanjung Puting National Park.

CAMP LEAKEY

It takes 1,5 hour on speedboat or 4 hour on klotok to get here. This is a research and rehabilitation site for adult Orangutans. This famous place was estabilished on 1971 by Birute M. F Galdikas, supported by Ministry of Forestry. Camp Leakey is the oldest Orangutan Research Site and have held the and have held the and longest period of Orangutan Research is The World.

SUNGAI BULUH KECIL & SUNGAI BULUH BESAR (TELUK PULAI)

The landscape in this area is stunning! You’ll never see it in another place. Dark mystical look of the water will inspire you to love nature than before. Plus, many activities of wildlife (birds, orangutan, crocodile, etc) an be found here.

This shore area of Tanjung Puting National Park. It has white sands beach and Mangrove Forest and also the destination for sea turtles to lay their eggs. The site is only accesible via water transportation.
